She used to take the dirty cloth diapers \u2014 yes, THAT kind \u2014 and rinse them in the toilet. Like, right in the bowl. She\u2019d swish them around, wring them out with her bare hands, and then toss them into the diaper pail until wash day rolled around. I told this to my friends and they practically gagged. Meanwhile, I\u2019m over here like, \u201cYeah\u2026 that was just Tuesday for my mom.\u201d But the more I think about it, the more I realize how unbelievably resourceful and tough parents were back then.
