An older couple was cruising down the highway, enjoying their retirement freedom \u2014 windows down, classic country playing, and just a tiny bit too much speed.
\nThe wife was behind the wheel, confident and chatty. The husband was riding shotgun, alternating between giving directions and dozing off.<\/p>\n
Suddenly, red and blue lights flashed in the mirror.
\n\u201cUh-oh,\u201d she muttered, easing the car to the shoulder.
\nThe officer approached. \u201cMa\u2019am, do you know how fast you were going?\u201d<\/p>\n
The wife leaned toward her husband, \u201cWhat\u2019d he say?\u201d
\n\u201cHE SAID YOU WERE SPEEDING!\u201d the husband bellowed.
\nThe officer smiled. \u201cCan I see your license?\u201d<\/p>\n
She turned again. \u201cWhat\u2019d he say?\u201d
\n\u201cHE WANTS YOUR LICENSE!\u201d
\nAfter looking at her ID, the officer chuckled. \u201cOh, you\u2019re from Georgia! I went on a blind date there once\u2014the worst one of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
The wife frowned, \u201cWhat\u2019d he say?\u201d
\nAnd without missing a beat, her husband replied loudly:<\/p>\n
\u201cHE SAYS HE THINKS HE WENT ON A DATE WITH YOU!\u201d<\/p>\n
The officer nearly fell over laughing, waved them off, and said,
\n\u201cDrive safe, folks\u2014and maybe a little slower next time.\u201d<\/p>\n
