\n\u200bWhile the studio had a few different copies of the Impala for stunts, there was only one “Hero Car”\u2014the pristine, perfect version used for close-up shots where the actors talk. If anything happened to that specific car, filming would completely stop.

\n\u200bJensen revealed that the pressure from the producers was intense. Every time he had to do a fast turn or drive on muddy roads, the crew would hold their breath.
\n\u200b”They would literally look at me with lasers in their eyes before every take,” Ackles laughed in an interview. “It was like, ‘Jensen, we love you, but if you scratch Baby, you’re paying for it.'”
\n\u200bThe fear became even more real because the classic car didn’t have modern safety features or anti-lock brakes, making it very heavy and difficult to stop quickly on wet streets.
