\nSoldier Boy\u2019s daddy is joining \u201cThe Boys\u201d for its fourth season \u2014 kind of.
\nIn a move that is sure to bring joy to the \u201cSupernatural\u201d fandom, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been added to the cast of the Amazon superhero series for Season 4, marking yet another reunion between an alum of the long-running CW series and its creator Eric Kripke, who is now showrunner of \u201cThe Boys.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWalking Dead\u201d star Morgan will be a recurring guest star on the fourth season of \u201cThe Boys,\u201d with details about his character being kept under wraps for now.<\/p>\n
On The CW\u2019s now-ended \u201cSupernatural,\u201d Morgan played John Winchester, the demon-hunting father of Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki), whom he taught the \u201cfamily business\u201d from a very early age following the death of their mother Mary (Samantha Smith) at the hands of a yellow-eyed demon in the series opening moments.<\/p>\n
Morgan is the latest \u201cSupernatural\u201d star to suit up for \u201cThe Boys,\u201d with Ackles coming in during the third season to play the villainous Soldier Boy (who had a nasty toxic-masculinity streak as a result of his relationship with a dismissive father) and Jim Beaver, who played Sam and Dean\u2019s surrogate father Bobby Singer on \u201cSupernatural,\u201d having had the part of politician Robert Singer on \u201cThe Boys\u201d since its first season.<\/p>\n
In the case of Morgan, this casting has been a long time coming, with the actor publicly voicing his excitement about the show on Twitter back in 2020 and agreeing to Kripke\u2019s offer to come over for Season 3 if he was available.<\/p>\n

If Kripke keeps the \u201cSupernatural\u201d reunion casting going, the next big get would be Padalecki, whom Kripke previously told Variety he\u2019d \u201clove\u201d to come do a cameo.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s always welcome on the show,\u201d Kripke told Variety in a June 8 interview. \u201cUp to now, the guy is on a network show that has however many episodes \u2014 like, a lot more than eight. So he\u2019s working all year and now he\u2019s producing his spinoff and he\u2019s got a whole empire going on over there. He\u2019s been a busy man. And it\u2019s been hard to even figure out any time that he\u2019s free. But if he was free and found himself currently unemployed, I would put him on \u2018The Boys\u2019 in a heartbeat.\u201d<\/p>\n
Along with Morgan, the previously announced newcomers for \u201cThe Boys\u201d Season 4 include Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward. Production has already begun on the new episodes, led by returning \u201cBoys\u201d series regulars including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Colby Minifie and Claudia Doumit, among others.<\/p>\n
Morgan is currently starring on the 11th and final season of AMC\u2019s \u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d as the villain Negan, and will next be starring alongside Lauren Cohan, reprising her \u201cWalking Dead\u201d role as Maggie, on the upcoming spinoff series \u201cIsle of the Dead.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aside from his parts on \u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d and \u201cSupernatural,\u201d Morgan\u2019s other iconic TV roles include playing Denny Duquette on ABC\u2019s \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d and Judah Botwin on Showtime\u2019s \u201cWeeds.\u201d<\/p>\n
