When Cote de Pablo suggested the name of the new spin-off series would be NCIS: Trust No One, there was a bit of a chuckle. Well, the topic of trust is going to be important in NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
Trust is important in all relationships. It doesn’t matter if it’s a couple in a romantic relationship or two people working together. Without trust, there are a lot of barriers up. Once that trust is broken, it’s almost impossible to get it back.
So, it seems apt that NCIS: Tony & Ziva could have been called NCIS: Trust No One. After all, there is a lot of broken trust when it comes to Tony and Ziva.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva will need to touch on the topic of trust
There has been a lot of trust broken between Tony and Ziva over the years. Ziva didn’t tell Tony about their daughter Tali and then faked her death. The only reason Tony found out about Tali was because a guardian was needed. At the time, Tony was sure that Ziva had died, so he move to France to live with Tali and help Tali get to know him—and he her!
Then Ziva turned up to save Gibbs. It turned out that there was a huge conspiracy, and Ziva had been living in hiding for years. It was at the end of this that Gibbs encouraged Ziva to reach out to Tali and tell him the truth.
Now the two are together, but it’s not going to be all sunshine and rainbows. There would have been a lot of questions between Tony and Ziva. We don’t even have confirmation that the two are even back together. It sounds like they could be co-parenting, because the lack of trust between them will be too much.
It’s not just about Tony and Ziva
Variety reminds us that there is another character who needs to trust again. Tali will become an important character in the series when it comes to this topic. She grew up for a long time believing that her mom was dead. She then had to move in with a man she didn’t know, and she had to learn to trust him as her father.
So, when Ziva came back into Tali’s life, what did that look like? How angry was Tali at her mom for lying to her? How long did it take for Tali to understand that Ziva did what she thought was the best at the time? How can Tali believe that her mom won’t do something like that to her again?
All of this is important when it comes to NCIS: Tony & Ziva, and it looks like we’ll get some moments to touch on all of it.
