NCIS Season 22 Photos Confirm Fan Favorite Will Return After Character Exit Rumors

Jessica Knight is staying with the Major Case Response Team (MCRT). CBS has officially revealed that Katrina Law will continue to be a part of NCIS for its upcoming Season 22, despite the previous season’s finale ending with her character being offered her dream job.

Per Collider, Law’s Jessica Knight is included among the newly released set of promotional images for NCIS Season 22, which features individual profile shots of the returning main characters. Law’s inclusion puts to rest any concerns fans had about her possible departure from the team, although the fake-out exit continues a pattern of NCIS teasing character exits only to walk them back. Jessica Knight now joins Ellie Bishop, Ziva David, and Kate Todd as agents who were teased to leave MCRT only to end up remaining part of the team.

NCIS is known for its dramatic cliffhangers, but the Season 20 opener didn’t have enough payoff to live up to the dramatic end of Season 19.
Where Have You Seen Katrina Law Outside NCIS?
Before joining NCIS in Season 18, Law was perhaps best known for her recurring role of Nyssa al Ghul in the Arrowverse, appearing in Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. She also played Quinn Liu in the modern-day reboots of Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I., both of which aired on CBS. In NCIS, Law portrays Jessica Knight, a member of the MCRT who is known for her expertise as a REACT (Regional Enforcement Action Capabilities Training Team) agent, specializing in hostage negotiation and high-stakes situations. Knight is also romantically involved with the team’s medical examiner, Dr. Jimmy Palmer, played by Brian Dietzen.

Created by Donald P. Bellisario, NCIS first premiered in 2003 via a backdoor pilot on the legal drama series JAG. The series, and wider franchise, follows special agents tasked with investigating military-related crimes. Besides Law and Dietzen, the returning main cast for NCIS Season 22 includes Sean Murray as Timothy McGee, Wilmer Valderrama as Nick Torres, Diona Reasonover as Kasie Hines, Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance, and Gary Cole as Alden Parker. Season 22 will be the third season to not feature the original series lead, Mark Harmon, as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, although the actor has stated that he is always open to appearing in a guest capacity if the writers come up with good enough reason to bring him back

NCIS Season 22 Will Include a James Bond-ish Episode
While story details remain largely under wraps for NCIS Season 22, showrunner Steven D. Binder recently teased that one episode will be about “what happens when a guy like Jason Bourne or James Bond — one of these really serious, high-end people who are involved in espionage — ends up in a retirement home, suffering from the things that all of our parents and grandparents suffer.” The showrunner continued, “What do you do when you have those sort of skills, and that sort of knowledge, and you’re starting to lose your s–t?”

NCIS Season 22 premieres on CBS on Oct. 14.
