It has been nearly six years since the emotional series finale of Supernatural, but the SPN Family is more alive and louder than ever. For years, fans have been begging for a proper continuation of Sam and Dean Winchester’s story. Now, it looks like those prayers might finally be answered by the boys themselves!
During a recent convention appearance, both Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) sent shockwaves through the fandom when asked about a potential Season 16 or a limited reunion movie.
”The Conversation is Happening”
Jared Padalecki didn’t hold back his excitement. “I have some ideas, and I know Jensen does too,” Jared admitted to a cheering crowd. “We both love these characters so much. We spent 15 years playing them, and they are a part of who we are. If the story is right, and the network is on board, I am 100% in to grab the flannel shirts again.”
Jensen Ackles, who recently produced the spin-off The Winchesters, agreed with his on-screen brother. Jensen teased that the bond between them hasn’t faded at all. “We always said we’d love to revisit the roadhouse, so to speak, after giving it a little break. Well, the break has happened. The conversations are definitely happening behind the scenes, and we are just waiting for the perfect timing and the perfect script.”
What Could Season 16 Look Like?
(Spoiler Alert for the Finale!)
As fans remember, the series ended with Dean entering Heaven and Sam living a long life before eventually joining him on the other side. So, how could a revival work?
According to Hollywood insiders, a potential Season 16 wouldn’t necessarily erase the ending, but could focus on a “missing case” from their past, or a supernatural threat so massive that it requires the brothers to return from the afterlife for one final, epic hunt.
Whatever the plot may be, one thing is certain: fans want to see the 1967 Chevy Impala rolling down the highway with “Carry On Wayward Son” blasting through the speakers one more time.
