Original NCIS: Los Angeles Star Considers Return Ahead Of Season 15
Daniela Ruah, an original NCIS: Los Angeles star, addresses her potential return to the franchise. Part of the NCIS spinoff since the very first season, Ruah portrayed Kensi Blye. In the NCIS: LA series finale, it was revealed that Kensi and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) have a baby on the way.
But with LL Cool J’s Sam Hanna making a surprise appearance in the NCIS: Hawaiʻi season 2 finale, it’s opened up the possibility for other NCIS: LA alums to reprise their roles.
Addressing the possibility of a return to the NCIS franchise as Kensi in comments to TVLine, Ruah struck an optimistic tone.
Although nothing is confirmed, the Los Angeles vet indicated that she would be open to reprising her role in the right circumstances and if she’s asked to do so. Read Ruah’s quote below:
If I get asked, I will certainly figure it out at the time. If it makes sense, why not, right?”
Sam Hanna’s Return Sets The Template For Kensi’s Return
In terms of Kensi joining the characters of NCIS: Hawaiʻi or even appearing in the main NCIS series, LL Cool J’s cameo shows how it can be done. The first half of the Hawaiʻi season 2 finale deals with the rescue of Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey).
Tennant was already in the process of escaping her captors, but a well-timed sniper shot from Hanna helped seal the deal. Moving forward, Hanna will recur in NCIS: Hawaiʻi season 3.
The way that Hanna shows up is fairly casual, with just a quick reference to the events of NCIS: LA.
This indicates that Kensi’s potential appearance wouldn’t have to be a heavy lift or take part as part of a larger crossover. She could show up multi-episode arc with Deeks, helping on a case and providing an update on the couple.
